Meeting new people should be exciting — a few habits keep it safe. These tips work together with the app’s built-in tools (video-first matching, block and report) and our Community Guidelines. They can’t cover every situation: trust your instincts, and remember that we don’t run background checks on users.

Protect your personal information

  • Don’t share your home or work address, daily routine, financial details or ID documents with someone you’ve just met.
  • Mind what your camera reveals: street signs, name badges, documents on the desk.
  • Keep the conversation in the app. Scammers usually push to move to another platform quickly — treat that as a warning sign.

Use the video call to your advantage

On Show More you meet by video before messaging opens — use that. Check that the person matches their photos and behaves the way they write. Be wary of anyone who hides their face, keeps the camera off, or pressures you to skip the call and talk somewhere else.

Never send money

No matter how convincing the story — a sudden emergency, a plane ticket to visit you, an investment opportunity, crypto. Requests for money, gift cards or banking details from someone you met here are scams. Don’t send anything, and report the conversation right away.

Broadcast with care

  • A public call can be watched by anyone in the app — not just people you matched with.
  • Before going public, check what’s visible and audible: your surroundings, other people, anything with your address or personal details on it.
  • You can end a broadcast at any moment. Recording it outside the app is against the rules, but strangers can still remember and describe what you show.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in a public, busy place — not at your home or theirs.
  • Tell a friend who you’re meeting, where and when, and consider sharing your live location.
  • Arrange your own transport there and back, and keep your phone charged.
  • Stay in control: drink within your limits and never leave food or drinks unattended.
  • If anything feels off, leave. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.

Consent

Anything intimate requires clear, ongoing and sober consent — online and offline. Consent for one thing isn’t consent for everything, and it can be withdrawn at any time. Respect it, and expect it to be respected.

When you travel

Laws and attitudes differ between countries — including toward LGBTQ+ people. Before using the app abroad, learn the local situation and think about what your profile reveals.

If something goes wrong

  • Block and report from the “…” menu in the chat — the other person is never told.
  • If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In-app tools are not a substitute for the police.
